39th International Emmy Awards

Last November 14th, 2011 - The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced today that actor, producer & director, Jason Priestley for the second consecutive year will host the 39th International Emmy Awards, together with the help of international celebrity presenters. The annual award gala will takes place Monday, November 21st at the Hilton New York.

Richard Parsons, Citigroup chairperson and former chairperson and CEO of Time Warner, along with actress Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife) will join Jason Priestley along with the other cast of presenters.

The International EmmyAwards recognize excellence in television programming produced outside the United States. 1,000 international entertainment decision-makers from over 50 countries attend the International Emm Awards Gala in New York every year. There are 40 nominees in ten categories.

CANNES, Brazil's TV Globo was leading the number of nominations for the 39th Intl. Emmy Awards, as it did last year.They will compete for arts performance with "All My Life: Adoniran Barbosa"; for performance, with Fabio Assuncao ("Songs of Betrayal"); for comedy, with "Breaking Up,"for telenovela, with “Destiny River” and for drama, with "Under the Law."

Nominations span a record of 20 countries: Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, The Philippines, and The United Kingdom, The competition has three rounds of judging over a period of 6 months, with participation from over 800 judges in 67 different countries.“The International Emmy Awards is a tough competition with over 1000 entries from 61 countries, this year.” said Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

This year's partners include: Phoenix Satellite Television, Ernst & Young, Deluxe, Miptv, and Sofitel Luxury Hotels,TV Globo, Microsoft, Dori Media Group.
